Buses

buses at bus stops in Stoke

Many local bus services are provided commercially by local bus operators. The largest operator in the area operate an overground network across North Staffordshire.

We work with operators and neighbouring authorities to provide a number of Quality Bus Corridors. On these corridors bus priority measures are provided, bus stops are upgraded and low floor, easy access buses operate.

We also provide a number of contracted bus services under the Cityrider brand. Here, low floor buses are provided by the authority and operated under contract by local bus operators. These services fill the gap where commercial services are not provided. They are often a life-line for many people who would otherwise be socially excluded.

We operate a concessionary fares scheme called the ADVANTAGE Bus Pass. This is a joint scheme with neighbouring local authorities.

We own and operate Hanley Bus Station in the City Centre - the main interchange in North Staffordshire.
