Greener Travelling
Greener travelling means thinking about the way we travel and trying to use alternatives to our car. We all know that cars cause pollution and congestion.
Did you know that……..?
- Over 70 per cent of all emissions of carbon monoxide come from vehicles.
- Traffic congestion and pollution could be cut by 10 per cent if half of Britain’s motorists left their cars at home for just one day each week and got a lift with a friend or workmate.
- In Stoke-on-Trent traffic congestion is costing businesses over £150 million a year in lost orders, delays to deliveries and wasted staff time.
- Cars now account for more than 60 per cent of all journeys and 85 per cent of all passenger miles in the UK. We use cars more than most other European countries.
We want to change the way that you travel and show you that there are ways to get about other than by using your car. Buses, trains, walking, car-sharing, motorcycling and cycling are all ways to travel which can help to reduce the number of car journeys involving one person..
Most of us are aware of the problems associated with too much traffic. We should also be aware that it is up to all of us to do something about it.
Don't choke Stoke...you can make a difference.
