Asking for help- Carer's Assessments
If you help look after someone who is unable to manage on their own and it is not part of your job, you may be able to have a 'carer's assessment'. This is just a name for a meeting between you and a social worker. The meeting gives you the chance to talk about how caring affects your life and whether you need support.
We have a leaflet called 'Getting help if you look after someone else' which tells you much more about carer's assessments. It includes information on what a carer's assessment involves, who can have one and how to ask for one. Please follow the link to download the information. Or if you want us to email you a copy or post one to you, please email us at public.information@stoke.gov.uk
