Celebrating Success Awards Evening
Our annual awards ceremony celebrates the educational and personal successes of young people who are in foster care, residential care or who are care leavers. It recognises their significant achievements in spite of - in many cases - a difficult upbringing.
Educational awards are presented to young people who have done well in their SATs, GCSEs, Post-16 Qualifications and to those who have had 100% attendance at school.
Personal Achievement awards are presented to young people who have had other successes such as involvement in community activities, sporting achievements, extra curricular activities such as music and drama, maintaining their independent accommodation for those over 16 and doing well at work.
Some of the things our young people have been up to during the last couple of years include
- Working as a sports leader in the community teaching young people football
- Attending performing arts classes and appearing in Mother Goose at the Regent Theatre
- Being a member of Stoke running club and achieving a gold medal in a competition in Birmingham running 800 meters in 2 minutes 29 seconds
- Being a member of St Johns Ambulance and a youth leader for two years
- Completing a Duke of Edinburgh award and helping out at Brownies and Guides
- Achieving the rank of Corporal in the Air Training Corps
Young people can be nominated for an award by any adult who knows them such as carers, social workers, teachers, school govenors and key workers. If you know a looked after young person who deserves an award why not complete our simple online nomination form to ensure that their achievements get the recognition they deserve.
