Children's Social Care

Children and families

What do we do?
Our social care services give support to children and families, when there are serious concerns about the welfare of people in the family. We aim to work with families so that they can care for their children at home, wherever possible.

However, sometimes children are not able to live at home with their families or with other family members, so we provide care for them. We try to find foster or adoptive families for children or young people taken into care. Sometimes though, a children’s residential home is the best option.

Our social workers work with children and young people while they are in care and when they are ready to leave care, to make sure they are getting the support that they need. For more information about the services we provide please follow the links on the on this page.
