Better Care, Higher Standards
The aim of the Long Term Care Charter is to provide better standards of support and care for adults with long term care needs and their carers in Stoke-on-Trent.
It is a joint charter from Stoke-on-Trent City Council's social care
and housing services, and North Stoke and South Stoke Primary Care Trusts.
This Charter is for you if you are
an adult with long term care needs or if you care for someone with these needs. People with long term care include some
- elderly people
- people with physical disabilities
- people with sensory disabilities
- people with learning disabilities
- people with mental health needs.
The document has been produced as part of the Government's initiative to promote high standards in health and social care services for people with continuing health and social care needs. A national charter, called "Better Care, Higher Standards" has been produced which sets out some core requirements for health and social care services and requires local agencies to produce their own standards in the areas identified. The city council is expected to take the lead in this work.
