Community Care
The city council provides many community care services, to support people of all ages. 'Community care services' is the
name sometimes used to describe the types of support that we have a duty to offer under the Community Care Act.
All our services are listed on the left hand side of the main 'social care' page, and you can click on each one to find
out more. Or you can click on one of the groups of people listed below.
We offer a wide range of services to:
- children and families in need
- children with disabilities
- adults and elderly people
- people with learning disabilities
- people with physical disabilities
- people with sensory disabilities (sight and hearing)
- people with mental health needs
- people who look after someone who is frail or has a long-term illness or disability (carers)
Most of us will probably need to use a social care service at some time or another in our lives. We aim to make a difference to people's lives by enabling them to:
- Become more independent
- Enjoy a better quality of life
- Have better life chances, and
- Be protected from harm.
