Tourism

The tourism service is responsible for the management, development and monitoring of the city council's tourism services to maximise the contribution tourism makes to the economic regeneration of the city.

The tourism team consists of four service areas:

  • Leisure Tourism Marketing - responsible for leisure tourism marketing campaigns to identified target markets, tourism development projects, and advising local tourism industry.
  • City Centre Marketing and Events - responsible for the marketing of the city centre, facilitating city centre events, and responsibility for street trading and exhibition spaces and the city centre stewards service.
  • Stoke-on-Trent Tourist Information Centre - responsible for giving front line visitor information. The Tourist Information Centre is based at the Victoria Hall, Hanley.
  • Staffordshire Stoke-on-Trent Conference Bureau - responsible for business tourism marketing campaigns, for marketing Staffordshire as a conference destination and providing a free venue finding service.

The North Staffordshire Tourism Strategy was launched in March 2004 and provides a 10 year strategic framework for tourism development, management and marketing with a five year action plan for tourism. Please follow the link for a copy of the North Staffordshire Tourism Strategy.

Market research data is crucial for future planning and monitoring. Various studies have been carried out, including visitor surveys and economic impact surveys, the most recent of  both surveys can be found under 'More pages'.
