StreetGames is a national charity dedicated to developing door step sport with disadvantaged communities, making sport accessible to young people regardless of their social circumstances.
The StreetGames programme in Stoke-on-Trent is run by our Sport Development Team. The programme delivers sport, games and dance to young people where they want it, at times they need it and in a style that they can relate to. StreetGames provides activity “on the doorstep” for young people aged 8-18 who are generally not members of sports clubs but do enjoy taking part in sport.
StreetGames offers a range of sport related services with the intention of:
- Improving community cohesion
- Creating a greater intergenerational understanding
- Reducing incidences of antisocial behaviour by young people/nuisance youth reports
- Increasing employment prospects/opportunities for volunteers
- Enhancing self esteem/self confidence for those taking part and volunteers
- Improving the health and wellbeing of those taking part
