Sport and Recreation Development

Sport Development deals with the opportunities available for people to progress to their full potential in sport, taking part for fun, health or competition it also emcompasses the provision of opportunites for addressing the social issues of the day through participation in sport.

The Section is responsible for providing advice on sport related government policy to the City Council and its partners. One of our main partners is Sport Across Staffordshire. Other functions include securing capital and revenue for sport related projects through a bidding process and project management of these schemes. We provide support to schools through two school sport co-ordinator partnerships, after school and holiday sports development schemes, school swimming and rowing programmes.
