Closing the Gap

Young people playing football outdoors as part of the Closing the Gap project

Closing the Gap is a major programme run by Stoke-on-Trent City Council that aims to increase the levels of sport and physical activity of young people who are experiencing or at risk of social exclusion.  We work with organisations and community groups, giving them with the skills to use sport with the young people they work. Closing the Gap aims to:

“unlock the potential of young people through increased participation in sport and active recreation and using this as a vehicle for change when working with young people at risk of social exclusion.”

StreetGames is a national charity which promotes sport in disadvantaged communities and aims to engage young people in sports activities.  StreetGames delivers physical activity opportunities to young people where they want it, at times when they want it and in a style they want it.  To find out more about StreetGames work nationally and locally please follow the link to the left.
