Natural history collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums

Image to illustrate the natural history collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums

There are about 130,000 items in our Natural History collection of animals, fossils, plants, and rocks.

Our Natural History gallery shows examples of the animals, fossils, plants, and rocks which you can find in and around Stoke-on-Trent. There are exciting interactive displays and activities here, and the gallery is very popular with children. We also have a Discovery Zone that is being developed to help you understand nature.

Our collection focuses on our local natural history, which was a decision made by members of the North Staffs. Field Club (established in 1865).  We continue to develop our collection to represent our regions natural treasures.
