Arts and crafts collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums
The Fine Art collection began when Dr John Russell gave his collection of Impressionistic paintings to the City on condition that it built an Art Gallery.
From this original donation the collection has continued to grow through donations and purchases, with the assistance of The Friends of The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, and through the Contemporary Art Society.
The strength of the collection lies in early twentieth century art production, particularly landscape images such as On the edge of Dartmoor by Gerald Edward Moira and various works by Adrian Allinson.
