Collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums

Collections

The North Staffordshire Potteries are the only area in the UK to be so closely identified with one industry.

Ceramic production has shaped the economic life, material culture and the landscape of Stoke-on-Trent in a way that is unique. A tradition of invention and creativity has evolved, against the backdrop of Arnold Bennett's traditional city image.

Stoke-on-Trent's museums reflect this tradition in our collections, which offer richness, depth and diversity. Our ceramics collection at The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery is of national and international significance.

The other key collections of arts, local history and natural history, together with the branch museums, help everyone enjoy and understand the heritage and creativity of the region, its industries, natural surroundings and people.

All of the collections have been Designated as outstanding, and a growing number are available to explore online.
