Markets

fresh food and markets bag

Markets have a character and atmosphere that makes them a unique shopping experience. From the renovated Victorian Market at Tunstall to the modern Hanley Market in the City Centre, or the traditional markets in Stoke and Longton - our four indoor markets have something to please everyone.   Stoke-on-Trent markets also operate six outdoor markets to ensure you are never far away from one of the markets.  Somewhere in the City there is a market taking place every day (excluding certain public holidays)

For the sheer value and variety of goods on offer and personal service they are hard to beat. With over 80,000 sq feet of retail space 435 market traders and over 100 different commodities selling over a thousand lines it is no wonder that over five million visitors use Stoke-on-Trent markets each year.

So if you want the finest and freshest foods, a unique gift, home furnishings, fashion or simply a refreshing snack there's no better place than one of Stoke-on-Trent's historic markets. With regular events by traders, local schools and external agencies, there's always something happening in your local market.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has market franchise rights to operate all markets, car boot sales and fairs in Stoke-on-Trent. Anyone wishing to operate one of these activities must contact the markets team to see if a licence can be granted. Licenses are only granted to individuals or organisations who are operating these event s for charitable purposes or for school funds. Organisers not doing this may face legal action.
