Writing Events in Stoke-on-Trent Libraries

Stoke-on-Trent will soon be one of the best places in the country to be an aspiring author.

The city’s libraries are gearing up for dozens of writing events over the next two years.

The Write On programme, funded by Arts Council, England, kicks off in April with courses in life-story writing at City Central Library, Hanley, and Starting to Write at Longton Library.

Later in the year, there will be short courses and workshops on topics including writing for children, story-telling, rap music, science-fiction, poetry and writing for radio.

There will be a residential weekend next December.

Newly-appointed writer-in-residence, Nicholas Corder, says “This is a very exciting time for writing in the Potteries.  We have a wealth of untapped talent here, as well as more experienced writers who are now honing their craft.”

With writing workshops at various libraries all across the city, there will be something for everyone, from beginners to more experienced writers looking for professional development.
