You can use our Libraries Online (click here) site to:

Join the library
If you’re not yet a member of Stoke-on-Trent Libraries, why not join? It’s completely free and open to everyone.

Simply enter your details on the online form. If you give us your email address, we’ll send you a library barcode number and you can reserve items right away.

After that, simply go into your nearest Stoke-on-Trent Library and we will be able to give you your library membership card.

When you collect your membership card we will need to see some identification which shows both your name and address. For example:

  • A valid driving licence,
  • A utility bill (no more than 3 months old); or
  • An offical letter - e.g. medical / financial / legal

You can use your library card to borrow items from any library in Stoke-on-Trent.

Search the library catalogue
To check whether an item is available in any Stoke-on-Trent library. You can search for books, CDs, DVDs, talking books, playstation games and language courses.

If the item you want is on the shelves, it’s a good idea to phone the library to check it’s there before making a special journey – or you could reserve it to collect from the library most convenient for you.

Reserve books and other items
To collect from any Stoke-on-Trent library. When you’ve found what you’re looking for on the library catalogue, why not reserve it? It’s free to do this and you can reserve as many items as you want.

Just click on the title you want, then on the “Reserve” button. You’ll need to enter your account details if you haven’t already done so and choose which library to collect it from. We’ll contact you to tell you when it’s available to collect, or you can check this yourself online.

View your account details and renew items on loan to you
Log on to your account to check and change your personal details, see what you have on loan, renew items, see whether your reservations are available to collect, cancel your reservations and view details of charges owing and payments made.

Click on “My account” and enter your library barcode number (from your membership card) and password (this is your date of birth in the format ddmmyyyy, unless you have changed it).
