Fishing
We work in partnership with the Environment Agency and local angling clubs to improve angling facilities and opportunities in Stoke-on-Trent. The community partnership approach to angling has allowed local angling clubs to improve the city’s waters with help, advice and funding from the city council and the Environment Agency.
National Rod Licences
Anyone aged 12 or over who fishes for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England and Wales must have an Environment Agency Fishing Rod Licence. The fine for fishing without a licence can be up to £2,500. Children under 12 do not need a licence.
You can get annual (expiring 31 March), eight day and one day licences from Post Offices. Annual licences (full and junior concessionary only) are also available by credit / debit card by telephoning 0870 1662 662. Or you can apply for a licence online by following the link on the right to the Environment Agency's web site.
Day Ticket Fishing
The waters listed on the right of this page are owned by the City Council and are available to anglers for day ticket fishing. Many waters are run by local angling clubs on our behalf.
