Cycling Map and Guide

Front Cover of the 2009 Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle Cycle Map

2009 Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme Cycle Map available end March!

With over 1,380 hectares of parks and open spaces, Stoke-on-Trent is one of the greenest cities in the UK with some spectacular countryside, including the Peak District, right on its doorstep!

Our city currently has 130 km of cycle routes including many quiet off-road routes including greenways, canal towpaths and river routes where you can explore the many tourist attractions Stoke-on-Trent has to offer.

In partnership with Staffordshire County Council we have produced a cycle map and guide for Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

It contains useful information including:

  • outdooor art
  • tourist attractions
  • parks, country parks and lakes
  • the location of cycle routes (both on and off-road);
  • cycle safety tips;
  • cyclist training;
  • a guide to cycling related road signs;
  • where to park your bike;
  • location of cycle shops; and
  • details of local cycling groups.

The aim of the guide is to help cyclists plan their journeys around North Staffordshire. The map will also be very useful to visitors to the area. It shows that there are many places where people can cycle safely without having to drive everywhere.

The routes shown on the map are those that exist in the area at present and also a number of safer routes along quieter streets.

Many more cycle routes are planned as part of our Cycling City status and the map and guide will continue to be updated in the future.
