Arts and Health
The Cultural Development Team has been working in partnership with the North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and the Primary Care Trust supporting and delivering on shared key priorities:
Promoting health and independence:
- Improving quality of life for individuals, groups and communities
- Promoting social inclusion
- Promoting equality and diversity
- Encouraging healthier lifestyles
Over the last 18 months the focus of the partnership has been to embed creativity in the delivery of health services across the trust. North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is a provider of complex care services within the clinical areas of:
- Learning disabilities
- Adult mental health
- Specialist mental health
- Older people
- Psychology
- Occupational therapy.
Services are provided in a variety of locations, including hospitals, mental health centres, clinics, doctors surgeries, schools and residential homes.
To ensure the continued development and growth of effective Arts for Health initiatives in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire the Cultural Development Team will continue to work with and support the partnership.
The Arts for Health Action partnership has four main priorities:
- To develop the North Staffordshire Partnership to broaden the scope of provision
- Increase access to finances
- Develop the creative sectors capacity to deliver best practice in health care settings
- To raise the profile of Arts for Health in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire
