Arts and Cultural Development
Culture can be said to be the life-blood of any city. Most important of all cultural activities are fun. The importance of the Cultural Strategy for Stoke-on-Trent is that it helps us to think about the many diverse types of cultures that bring our City to life.
The Cultural Development Team, part of the Regeneration and Heritage Directorate is responsible for developing and delivering in partnership with a range of organisations our Cultural Strategy ‘Culture that works’. This strategy identifies the critical role that culture and cultural activity can help deliver our six key strategic priorities:
- Creating a vibrant city with thriving communities
- Building a safer city
- Delivering better outcomes for children and young people
- Promoting health and independence
- Managing resources and delivering value for money
The vision for ‘Culture that works’ is to make Stoke-on-Trent:
“A city where culture works for both the individual and the community, providing opportunities for personal development and supporting the Creative Industries."
