Fun and Leisure

Stoke-on-Trent is a city full of surprises that has something for you whatever your energy levels. In and around our city, you’ll discover some of the world’s finest attractions. Thrill-seekers can tail-grind at the biggest skateboard plaza in the UK or ski the slopes or travel on an alpine roller coaster at the Ski Centre. They can also enjoy an action-packed day at the UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers or can travel on the country’s first indoor water roller coaster ride at Waterworld.

For those of you looking for a more relaxing day out, you can simply enjoy a picnic in one of our many spacious Victorian parks, take a trip on a canal boat or travel on a steam train at Foxfield or Churnet Valley. You can see an upside down tree at the National Trust garden at Biddulph Grange or take a short drive to the breathtaking scenery of the Staffordshire Moorlands and Peak District, which is the perfect backdrop for walking, cycling, pony trekking, rock climbing and hang gliding.

Or you can ‘throw a pot’ at the hands-on experience at Ceramica or explore our proud past at the Etruria Industrial Museum, Potteries Museum & Art Gallery or Gladstone Pottery Museum.
