Drug and Alcohol Action Team

In 1998 the Government announced a National Drug Strategy 'Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain'.

This document sets out a number of key targets to be achieved:

  • Reducing the number of young people using illegal drugs, especially heroin and cocaine
  • Reducing the levels of re-offending by drug misusing offenders
  • Increasing the number of drug misusers in treatment
  • Reducing the availability of drugs, especially heroin and cocaine

The Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) exists to deliver the National Drug Strategy at a local level. Stoke-on-Trent DAAT was established on 1 April 2001 and is one of 149 across the country.

The Drug and Alcohol Action Team has now merged with the Community Safety Section and become the Stoke- on-Trent Safer City Partnership. A new Safer City Partnership website is planned for the future. Meanwhile you can get in touch with us on safer@citypartnership.stoke.gov.uk.
