Health in Stoke-on-Trent

Kids splashing around at Waterworld

There have been significant improvements in people's health in the city over the last ten years. Life expectancy increased and death rates for some of the major diseases fell.  But we still face challenges to make Stoke-on-Trent a fit city including changing people's lifestyles, helping people quit smoking, tackling drug abuse, increasing community safety and encouraging people to take more exercise.

Stoke-on-Trent is one of only eight cities in the United Kingdom to have been named a Healthy City by the World Health Organisation. Our Healthy City Partnership continues to improve the city's health, with the City Council, the local National Health Service trust and other public, private and voluntary organisations working together.
