Services Provided:
The service deals with thousands of consumer and trader enquiries each year.

We identify criminal offences and sharp business practices for further investigation.

We provide free legal advice and assistance to consumers, helping them to get redress where appropriate.

Consumer and business education is also an important part of the service. The team takes part in displays, talks and media work.

We hold the Community Legal Services Quality Mark.
In order to ensure that the high quality of our advice is maintained, the service is audited annually by the C L S auditors.

To retain confidentiality when casework files are inspected by the auditors, clients details are omitted from that file.
From 11 july 2006, our first line advice will be provided by consumer direct.

Summary:
We provide advice to consumers on faulty goods and poor quality services. Advice is also given to traders on their obligations.

Please see the folder 'how to solve your problems', for specific guidance notes on common problems from faulty mobile phones through to package holidays.
Our first line advice is provided by Consumer Direct. This is a new government backed service giving clear, practical advice free of charge. All the advisors are highly trained to give you clear unbiased advice about how to solve your consumer problems.
