Domestic wheeled bins
We have introduced a wheeled bin collection service into many areas of the city. As each area was introduced to the system, householders received a leaflet giving guidance on how the system works.
The bin is a robust lightweight plastic container mounted on wheels and has a hinged lid. It's capacity is 180 litres, almost three times the capacity of a standard refuse sack.
How to use your bin
Advice on when to start using your wheeled bin is usually provided when the bin is delivered to your property.
Your bin should be placed at the edge of your property, or as instructed by us, by 7:30 am on the collection day. Bins should be fully closed and positioned with handles facing the road. Once the bin has been emptied you should return it to your property as soon as possible.
Excess waste should be kept until the next week, not placed at the side of the wheeled bin.
Your bin is meant for household rubbish only.
Recycle as much as possible
To reduce the risk of having excess waste and to reduce the amounts of waste we have to throw away, please recycle as much as possible. You can do this by using the kerbside recycling containers provided under the kerbside scheme or the brown wheeled bin provided for garden waste.
Follow the link to the kerbside recycling page, or by visiting either of the two household waste and recycling centres in the city. Follow the for further information on the location of your nearest site.
