Planning Appeals

Planning Appeals

You can appeal to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government against:
  • any refusal of planning permission, approval or consent; and
  • any condition which the Council may impose.
You should make appeals to the Planning Inspectorate based in Bristol.

There are three ways of dealing with appeals – by an exchange of written comments, by means of an informal hearing or by public inquiry.

If you made comments about a planning application, you will be notified of any appeal and have the opportunity to make further comments.

The Planning Portal contains a great deal of guidance about appeals. You can check progress on appeals and make an appeal on-line by using this link to the Planning Portal.

Enforcement Appeals

There is a right of appeal against the requirements of any Enforcement Notice we serve. The appeal forms and guidance notes are enclosed with all Notices. Information about enforcement appeals can be found on the Planning Portal. You can check progress on appeals and make an appeal on-line by using this link to the Planning Portal.
