Building Regulations

Building Regulations approval is not required if:

  • The extension is a covered yard, covered way or a carport open on two or more sides with a floor area of 30 square metres or less.
  • The extension is an unheated conservatory with a floor area of 30 square metres or less and wholly or partly glazed, and the glazing complies with the safety standards of BS 6206 (1981). It is important to ensure that your conservatory does not affect any existing means of escape from your dwelling.
  • The extension is a porch with a floor area of 30 square metres or less and any glazing complies with the safety standards of BS 6206 (1981). 

Please note that all dimensions for Building Regulations should be measured internally.
