bonfires

An unauthorised bonfire

Organised bonfires and firework displays take place across the city every November.  Information about venues and times is published a few weeks before the event.

Bonfires are not permitted on council land for environmental reasons.  If you wish to hold a bonfire on private land health and safety advice is available from us or from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

There are a number of laws relating to smoke pollution produced by bonfires. It is illegal to burn certain types of waste or to produce certain types of smoke.  Bonfire smoke can also affect your health.

Consider composting garden waste rather than burning it.  Visit our composting web page for ideas of what to compost and how to do it.
