Governor Support Unit

We provide help and support to the governing bodies of schools in Stoke-on-Trent.

To do this we provide the following services:

• arranging meetings every term, including early notice for absent governors;
• preparing agendas for meetings;
• organising a senior officer to clerk governors' meetings and act as a representative of the Director of Children and Young People's Services;
• producing, correcting and printing minutes;
• publishing a newsletter for governors;
• supplying a named administrative officer for every governing body;
• induction training for new governors;
• help to administer the resignation and appointment of governors;
• provision of advice by telephone, letter and face-to-face discussion (on request), and
• production of training programmes for governors.
