Ethnic Minority Achievement

The Team supporting Achievement, Learning and Excellence for Ethnic Minorities is part of the Advisory Service supporting schools in meeting the needs of our rich and diverse community. Strands of activity are each led by an adviser and coordinator.

The strands comprise:

  • Core team to meet the needs of newly arrived pupils including refugees and asylum seekers;
  • Raising achievement projects for
    • Pakistani pupils in primary schools 
    • Pakistani and Bangladeshi pupils in secondary schools;
    • Black and Mixed Heritage pupils;
    • Newly arrived pupils;
  • Community Languages Service;
  • Translating and Interpreting Service;
  • Community Learning Schools coordination;
  • Data analysis within overall Children and Young People's Services provision; and
  • Support for racial equality.
