Education Welfare Officers
Our Education Welfare Officers work very closely with our schools so they can intervene early and support children, parents and schools when problems arise.
Our officers provide short term support to families whose children are not going to school at all or not attending on a regular basis. If there are serious welfare issues involved we will work in partnership with other agencies.
Education Welfare Officers are an 'independent resource' so they will not take sides. Their job is to find out the facts of each case and make a decision based on these facts. If the school are not supporting you as they should the officer will support and challenge them if neccessary. However, if you as a parent are failing in what you should do they will offer support and challenge you if neccessary.
