The Employment of Children
No child under the age of 13 is allowed to work.
Children between the ages of 13 and 16 are allowed to work, but there are restrictions with regard to type of work and number of hours they are allowed to do.
All employers of children must apply for a child employment licence, which is free. This is so that we can make sure that the work does not interfere with the child's education, and to safeguard children from harm and exploitation.
Follow the link on the right hand side of this page to download a child employment licence or to find out more about the kind of jobs and number of hours children can work.
