In May 2010 the coalition government announced the abolition of the existing National Performance Framework, bringing an end to the programme of Comprehensive Area Assessments and the National Indicator set. The government ethos of reducing the burden placed on local authorities, and allowing more freedom to identify local priorities, has led to a reduced national performance framework and shift of accountability for local authorities from Whitehall to their local community.
As a result, the way we manage performance within the council has changed. A system’s thinking approach has been adopted throughout the authority to ensure services become focused on better meeting the demands of customers and reducing waste.
The overarching key priorities for Stoke-on-Trent are outlined in the Mandate for Change
