How does Overview and Scrutiny work in Stoke-on-Trent?

This part of our site describes the role of overview and scrutiny and explains how the process works in the city council. You can also find out about topics we are currently looking at and details of completed reports.

We will update the site regularly so it's worth checking to see if there are new task and finish groups you are interested in, or if there is anything new on the consultation pages. Every time we finish a report, or get a response from the executive, we'll add that to the site too.

The site sets out to explain, in plain English, what overview and scrutiny is and what it tries to do. It explains the structure through which overview and scrutiny is carried out, and it contains some handy hints for people who are (or wish to become) closely involved in the process.

Overview and scrutiny is about councillors working with local people, the community, council teams and other organisations to improve the quality of life for everyone in Stoke-on-Trent.
