The Leader of the Council is Councillor Mohammed Pervez.
Under Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s constitutional arrangements, the Executive is made up of the Leader and Cabinet. The
Cabinet is made up of the Leader and Councillors who are chosen by the Leader. Each cabinet member has an individual
area of responsibility, also known as his/her portfolio.
Follow this link to see who the Cabinet
is made up of, and what their roles and responsibilities are. You can also see the attachment below.
Executive Decisions (including all key decisions) are taken at Cabinet meetings, which are open to the public. All
decisions made are "provisional" for five days before they can be implemented, and a list of decisions is published
after each meeting.
Councillors may ask questions at meetings of the Cabinet relating to reports being considered. Although members
of the public are not entitled to ask questions at Cabinet meetings, you may contact your ward Councillor if you wish them
to ask a question on your behalf.
Councillors not serving on the Cabinet have the opportunity, through Overview and Scrutiny, to call-in Executive
decisions (with the exception of day-to-day matters) about which they have concerns. These decisions are then reviewed
further before they are implemented. Follow the link on this page to find out more about the call-in process.
The Forward Plan sets out decisions that the Cabinet intends to take over the following four months. Each plan item
is allocated to a Cabinet Member. The Forward Plan is published on the Council's website and can be found by following
the link on this page.
