How are council investigations monitored?

We carry out all our investigations under the guidelines set out in the RIPA policy. This framework sets out the limitations under which Councils can do surveillance work on people to gather evidence for prosecution. We have to gather information for many areas of our work, for example trading standards work, looking into benefit fraud or looking at a child protection issue.

To find out more download the file below for a copy of the RIPA Policy, which all Councils follow, as a code of practice. You will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat to view this file.  This is available as a free download of the internet.  Follow this link to obtain your free copy of the software or use Access Adobe to convert the file to html by visiting http://access.adobe.com
