City Council Directorates

Our 12,000 employees are employed to advise the Council, act on its decisions and provide a diverse range of over 600 services on 200 sites throughout the city. These cover many aspects of city life - its schools, housing estates, environmental health, transport, economic development, social services, and include teachers, engineers, librarians, social workers, planners, housing officers and pest control officers.

The employees of the council are divided up into directorates which reflect our strategic aims and objectives.
