Paying Council Tax and Business Rates
These are the ways you can pay your council tax and business rates bills.
You can pay online:

By Direct Debit
If you choose to pay by Direct Debit you have a choice of payment dates.
You can get a Direct Debit mandate by any of the following ways:
- Download the mandate form here
- Email localtax@stoke.gov.uk and request a form
- 'Phone (01782) 233777 and request a form
When you've filled in the form please return it to:
Local Taxation, Freepost, ST13 82, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 4BR
Telephone banking
Please quote the following when using your bank's telephone banking service.
- Bank sort code: 08-90-09;
- Bank account number: 61519051; and
- Council Tax/Business Rates account number taken from your bill.
You can call our 24 hour automated telephone payments:
Ring (01782) 234123 - you will be put through to our automated payment system. Please make sure that you have your bill and payment cards ready when you call.
You can telephone direct to pay by debit/credit card through Stoke-on-Call:
- Monday to Thursday - 8.45am to 5pm ring (01782) 233777
- Monday to Thursday - 5 to 8pm ring (01782) 234234
- Friday - 8.45am to 4.30pm ring (01782) 233777
- Friday - 4.30 to 8pm ring (01782) 234234
- Saturday - 9am to 1pm ring (01782) 234234

Cheques should be crossed and made payable to "City of Stoke-on-Trent".
Please enclose the account number from your bill with your payment. (Please note: if you are paying by cheque no receipt will be issued unless you provide a stamped addressed envelope).
Pay at a post office or PayPoint
You can pay at any post office or PayPoint using a plastic payment card. To request a card just ring (01782) 233777.
