Stoke-on-Trent City Council Corporate Plan 2008-2011
Welcome to our Corporate Plan 2008-2011
The Corporate Plan provides details of the way we will promote the social, economic and environmental well-being of the city and how we will provide our vision of ‘excellent services, valued by customers'.
We recognise that to achieve this we need to work in partnership with a wide range of organizations. The Local Strategic partnership is our main partnership. The partnership brings together a range of organizations, such as businesses, community organizations, the police authority, the health authority, local colleges and the voluntary sector to deliver against the Local Area Agreement.
This year we have developed our Corporate Plan to clearly show how we contribute to the delivery of the Local Area Agreement.
This plan is at the heart of the council's Performance Management Framework and will help secure better outcomes for local people. We also have a common set of core values that shape how we deal with customers, partners and colleagues. These help us make sure that everything we do and the services we provide are right for the people who need them. We will:
- be open and honest
- work in partnership
- take responsibility willingly
- value diversity and promote equality
- show respect, commitment and loyalty
- strive for excellence
- listen to people and involve them
The first four of our strategic priorities are also those of our partners. They were agreed with Government Office West Midlands in our Local Area Agreement. The fifth priority is about showing that, as a council, we will improve the way we work and demonstrate that we are providing value for money.
Our Corporate Priorities are:
- Children and Young People - safeguarding and educational attainment, and raising aspirations in our young people
- Regeneration - building on increased aspirations and delivering improved options for housing, jobs and investments in Stoke to give real improved outcomes for local people
- Adult Services - Continue to deliver on our commitments and improvements in the quality of care services to promote independence
- Communities - making our neighbourhoods safer, stronger and cleaner
These four priorities will be delivered with a strong focus on:
- Outcomes for Local People - particularly for those most vulnerable ensuring that strong targets that make a difference are agreed with our partners to focus on achievable outcomes
- Value for Money - Making sure that we deliver our services by priority at the lowest cost, highest performance to give true value for money for Stoke.
This Corporate Plan shows:
- the key issues to be addressed
- the outcomes we are seeking
- the performance measures we will manage to show we have improved
- the programmes and projects that will deliver the change required
- who is responsible for making sure the change happens
