Cremations in Stoke-on-Trent

Carmountside Chapel

Carmountside Crematorium and Chapel opened in 1940 with the cemetery opening some years later in 1947.

The chapel is laid out in a conventional style with a centre aisle and can seat up-to 160 people. There is also standing room for a further 100 people.  The chapel is dedicated not consecrated - allowing use for both religious and non religious services.

We have a pipe organ that can accompany singing during the service, or if you prefer, music can be requested from our state of the art music system.

The use of the chapel and the organ are included in the cremation fee, and the chapel may also be used for a service before a burial, although there is a charge for this.

Cremation services are usually 15 or 30 minutes long depending on the type of service required.  Extra time can be booked if the chapel is available and we also offer evening and Saturday morning services for an additional fee.  Early morning services are available at 9am and 9.30am Monday to Friday at a reduced fee.

The chapel has full disabled access and facilities including an induction loop hearing system. There is also a waiting room with disabled toilet facilities, a quiet room and a tea room.

All payments need to made no later than the working day prior to the cremation taking place. We take payment by:
  • Cash
  • Debit or credit card
  • Building society or solicitors cheques
Please note that we do not accept personal cheques

Live Video Streaming

We have installed DVD recording and webcast facilities.

This allows family members who can’t be present, to login with a password and watch the funeral service live or at a later date from anywhere in the world. We also have a viewing facility from our waiting room for large services. There is a charge for the web stream facility.

Baby and Infant Funerals

Please see the attached document below for policy and guidance which has been designed to assist bereaved parents with making decisions that are right for them. It was formulated with the kind assistance of Sands (the stillbirth and neonatal death charity) during the review of the Institute of Cemetery Management Charter for the Bereaved with the intention of providing information to parents and burial authorities and ultimately raise the level of services provided.

Please follow the link below to find out more about cremations and cremation options available in our cemeteries.
