What is a Local Area Plan?
New plans for 2007
A Local Area Plan is a list of things that we have agreed to do together to make your area a better place to live. We're about to update your area plans early in the new year, 2007. As soon as they are available we'll publish them on our web site so you can check out the plans for your area.
Previous plans
You can still view our previous plans for 2005/2006 by following the link to the ward area you are interested in.
Each plan has six themes:
- A Healthier City - A city where people live longer and have a better quality of life.
- A Learning City - A city where people are continually learning and developing their skills, not only to take advantage of new, better paid jobs but also to improve their quality of life.
- A Wealthier City - A city that provides good job prospects and good wage levels. Where businesses are supported and new businesses are attracted to provide a diverse economy.
- A City with a Strong Sense of Community - A city that provides good quality homes.
- A Safer City - A safer city where individuals and communities feel safe and neighbourhoods are increasingly free from crime.
- A Green City - A green city that provides well maintained open spaces, public places, good quality play facilities for our children and a quality environment for future generations contributing to a good quality of life.
