Policy Statement

We are concerned about the discrimination faced by anyone because of their gender. We are committed to working with employees and the community to get rid of sexism in our structures and cultures, as well as encouraging changes in behaviours and attitude. We are committed to providing equal access to our services and equal treatment of our employees and of people who use our services regardless of sex. We are also committed to working to get rid of discrimination against all genders in our policies, procedures and practices both in terms of service delivery and employment. We are further devoted to making sure that all our new policies, procedures and practices promote equal opportunities in relation to sex equality.

The Sex Discrimination Act 1975

The law places a duty on us not to treat anyone unfairly because of their gender. It makes it illegal to discriminate in terms of their sex against individuals in the areas of employment, education and providing goods, facilities and services. It also makes it illegal to discriminate in employment against married people. We need to make sure that the needs of men, women and the transcommunity are taken into account in our services and employment.
