Road Safety

Road safety and associated casualty reduction are national and local concerns.  Issues relating to speed and aggressive driving are a high priority. Both can be factors in road accidents.

The Government's Road Safety Strategy and Casualty Reduction Targets for the year 2010 highlights the following targets:

  • 40% reduction in the number of people killed and seriously injured in road accidents
  • 50% reduction in the number of children killed and seriously injured
  • 10% reduction in the slight casualty rate

We will work towards reducing road danger through the four 'e's: education, engineering, enforcement and encouragement.
