Advice from the Stoke-on-Trent Community Safety Unit if you are a victim of antisocial behaviour

What is antisocial behaviour?

Any behaviour deemed by a reasonable person to be antisocial, thereby causing harassment, alarm and distress to one or more person not of the same household, which cannot be primarily dealt with by existing criminal law.

It is behaviour which causes alarm, harassment or distress to a member of the community. It could include threats, intimidation, violence, unruly behaviour, verbal abuse, vandalism or graffiti and must be persistent.

You can call a dedicated number 0800 561 5610 for help, advice and to report antisocial behaviour 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Calls needing urgent action will be transferred immediately to 999, while non-urgent and reporting calls will be dealt with appropriately. Where necessary your call will receive a response from our neighbourhood management teams.

Calls are free from a landline.

Examples of antisocial behaviour are:

• graffiti;
• drug and alcohol related nuisance;
• excessive noise;
• threatening behaviour; and
• swearing and abusive language.

The helpline is part of the Stoke Won't Stand for It campaign.
