A civil naming ceremony is designed to meet the individual needs of your family.  It provides a dignified and formal opportunity to welcome your child into the family and wider community.  It is an opportunity to announce the names that you have chosen and to make promises of commitment to your child.  You may also want to choose other adults who are prepared to promise a special supportive relationship.
