Marriage certificates

Standard Certificate

  • from Registrar of Marriages £3.50 (current register)
  • from Superintendent Registrar £7.00 (completed registers)

    General Search £18.00

    Notice of Marriage £30.00 each

    An extra fee of £47 is payable for notices taken outside the Register Office, for example in prison or at home. 

    Marriage at the Register Office £43.50 (including the cost of one marriage certificate)

    Marriage at Approved Premises for example hotels or stately homes.

  • £211.50 (Monday to Saturday)
  • £266.50 (Sundays/Bank Holidays)

    Please note that this fee is payable to the Superintendent Registrar on the day of the wedding and includes £3.50 for the cost of a marriage certificate. A separate fee will also be payable to the proprietors of the venue where you are being married.

    Marriage in the Church of England or Wales

    A marriage at a Church of England or Wales does not usually involve the Register Office. Enquiries regarding fees must be directed to the vicar of the church.

    Marriage in other religious buildings £50.50

    This is the fee for the attendance of the registrar at your wedding. It includes £3.50 for the cost of a marriage certificate. A separate fee may also be payable to the venue where you are being married.
