- Inspecting and licensing catteries, Kennels, Riding schools, Dog breeding establishments,and Pet shops.
- Investigating complaints about welfare standards at licensed premises and farms;
- Enforcing rules in relation to animal identification and movements including conditions during transportation.
- Inspecting farm and commercial premises to ensure the health and welfare of animals and providing advice in relation to compliance with legal requirements.
- Responding to emergencies involving diseased or injured animals.
- Making sure fallen livestock is disposed of correctly.
