General Information on tenders and quotations

  • Tenders or quotations will be advertised in Contrax Weekly, European Journal (if required) and on our web page, or in any suitable publication.
  • Tenders will be despatched by post on receipt of application.
  • Electronic copies if requested can be issued. At present we cannot received completed tenders/quotation submissions via fax or e-mail.
  • The city council does not have any central store. Orders will be placed by individual departments or sections and delivery made direct to them.
  • Many of our contracts will be framework agreements, and we do not guarantee any level of business.
  • Many of our contracts will be tendered initially as expressions of interest. The information provided under expressions of interest will form the basis for deciding which companies will be invited to submit a formal tender.
  • When the Corporate Purchasing & Contracts Unit evaluate tenders they use a process called "The Most Economically Advantageous Tender" MEAT for short. This means that we do not evaluate tenders on price alone, but take into account cost, quality and performance to ensure value for money is achieved. 'Value for money' does not necessarily mean the cheapest.
  • You will be notified at the end of the tender/quotation procress in writing if you have been successful. If you are not successful this time, then a debriefing will be given on request.

Please contact us if you want to discuss any purchasing and contract issues.
