Services Provided:
We want to make sure there are satisfactory standards of safety, care and welfare for all animals at premises and farms across the city. Enforcement responsibilities include:-

  • Inspecting and licencing catteries, kennels, riding schools, dog breeding establishments, and pet shops;
  • Investigating complaints about conditions at premises;
  • Monitoring complaints and enquiries to identify problem traders and trading areas;
  • Advising and educating consumers and businesses as needed;
  • Inspecting the conditions for animals at market or in transit;
  • Responding to emergencies involving injured or diseased animals;
  • Making sure fallen livestock is disposed of correctly;
  • Monitoring licences for the movement of animals.

    Summary:
    We enforce regulations and provide guidance for animal health and welfare.
